National Press Club to Host First Public Panel With
Abramoff and Good Government Advocates:
‘What Will it Take to Change the Influence of Money in Politics?’

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Jack Abramoff, author of the book “Capitol Punishment: The Hard Truth About Washington Corruption From America’s Most Notorious Lobbyist,” has faced “60 Minutes” and Senate investigative hearings, and has been the subject of two Hollywood movies. Now, for the first time, he’ll come together for a panel discussion with reform leaders dedicated to repairing the world Abramoff formerly exploited.

The National Press Club, known as “The Place Where News Happens,” will host this event with Abramoff; Lisa Gilbert, deputy director of Public Citizen’s Congress Watch division; and Nick Penniman, president of United Republic. Both Public Citizen and United Republic are organizations dedicated to fighting the corrupting influence of well-financed special interests over American politics and government. The event will be moderated by Jonathan Salant, former Press Club president and current Bloomberg reporter who covered the federal investigation of Abramoff.
