Don Lemon, host of CNN Tonight with Don Lemon, will discuss his new book “This is the Fire: What I Say to My Friends about Racism” at a National Press Club Headliners virtual book event at 2pm on Monday, May 10.

This one-hour program will stream live on the Club’s website and YouTube Channel, and is accessible to both the press and general public free-of-charge. Viewers are invited to submit their questions for Lemon in advance or during the live program via email to [email protected], with “Lemon” in the subject line.

In “This is the Fire,” Lemon, the country’s only Black prime-time news anchor, takes a deeply personal look at racism in the United States. He begins with a letter to a young nephew, where he tells him that “We must resist racism every single day. We must resist it with love.” He follows with reporting and reflections on his slave ancestors, his upbringing in the shadows of segregation, and his adult confrontations with politicians, activists, and scholars. He also takes us to the heart of the 2020 protests in New York City.

Lemon anchors CNN Tonight with Don Lemon from the network’s New York bureau on weeknights at 10pm. He joined CNN in September 2006 after serving as a co-anchor for the 5 p.m. newscast for NBC5 News in Chicago. Prior to that he was a correspondent for NBC News, and weekend anchor on MSNBC.
