Event Sold Out
Washington Post journalist Sally Quinn will moderate a panel discussion on the role of faith-based diplomacy and using religion to resolve conflicts, including those involving Islamic extremists in Pakistan.
The event, sponsored by the Club¹s International Correspondents Committee, coincides with the publication of the book, "Religion, Terror and Error: U.S. Foreign Policy and the Challenge of Spiritual Engagement" by Dr. Douglas M. Johnston, President of the International Center for Religion & Diplomacy (ICRD).
Quinn, who writes the On Faith blog for The Washington Post, will interview Johnston and moderate a panel that includes former Attorney General Ed Meese; former Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy James K. Glassman, and the Rev. David McAllister-Wilson, President of Wesley Seminary.
Johnston¹s book focuses on the importance of incorporating religious considerations into the practice of U.S foreign policy and how the United States can adjust its policies to achieve that goal.
A video clip showing the ICRD¹s work in Pakistan in countering extremism and reforming the madrasas, or religious schools, will be shown for the first time.
The event, in the Holeman Lounge, will start with a welcome reception, with a cash bar, from 6-6:30pm, to meet the participants. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.
