New York Times Reporter Expelled from Kabul to Speak at Newsmaker 2 p.m. Wednesday
New York Times reporter Matthew Rosenberg, who was expelled from Kabul last week but whom the two presidential candidates said they would allow back into Afghanistan, will speak at a Newsmaker News Conference on Wednesday, August 27.
Rosenberg will discuss both his own situation and the outlook for Afghanistan.
He has been covering Afghanistan since 2008, first as the South Asia correspondent of The Wall Street Journal, and then for the Times, which he joined in November 2011. He also did a stint in Afghanistan in 2002, when he was a reporter for The Associated Press based in Nairobi.
The National Press Club issued statements last week first criticizing the expulsion by the Karzai government and then welcoming the statements by the presidential candidates, Abdullah Abdullah and Ashraf Ghani, saying they would rescind the order.
This Newsmakers news conference is scheduled for Wednesday, August 27 at 2 p.m. in the club’s Holeman Lounge, on the 13th Floor of the National Press Building, 529 14th St. NW, Washington DC 20045.
