Ayaan Hirsi Ali to Discuss “Is Islam a Religion of Tolerance?” At October 25 National Press Club Speaker Luncheon

Author and Muslim-women’s-rights advocate Ayaan Hirsi Ali will speak at a National Press Club luncheon on Monday, October 25. The topic of her presentation will be “Is Islam a Religion of Tolerance?”

Her appearance comes shortly after publication of her latest book, “Nomad: From Islam to America—A Personal Journey Through the Clash of Civilizations.” This book is the second volume of her autobiography. The first volume, “Infidel,” chronicles her early years in her native Somalia, her journey to Holland to escape an arranged marriage, her service in The Netherlands Parliament, the violent aftermath of a film--”Submission”--that she co-produced with Theo van Gogh, subsequent threats on her life, and her move to America. Her first book, “The Caged Virgin,” was published in 2007. She was named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2005, and has received numerous human rights awards.

Hirsi Ali is a resident scholar with the American Enterprise Institute. She is the founder of The AHA Foundation, created to protect the rights of women in the West from radical Islam and tribal custom.

The luncheon begins at 12:30 Reserve at [email protected] or 202-662-7501. Cost of the luncheon is $17 for National Press Club members, $28 for their guests, and $35 for the general public.
