The Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore to Discuss 25 Years Covering the Weather at a Dec. 14 Luncheon

WASHINGTON, November 7, 2011 -- Jim Cantore, on-camera meteorologist for The Weather Channel, will share highlights from his 25 years of covering severe weather during a National Press Club Speakers Luncheon on Dec. 14.

Cantore, who started his career at The Weather Channel, has become one of the most recognizable meteorologists on television. Pushing weather coverage to the next level, Cantore has reported on wild weather - from snow storms to tornados and hurricanes, such as Hurricane Katrina and recently Hurricane Irene. Best known for his live field coverage of major storms, Cantore also anchors a series on The Weather Channel called Cantore Stories. In this series, the weatherman travels to some of the most extreme climates in the world to talk with locals about the weather they’ve experienced in their lifetimes.

The meteorologist also appears as a frequent guest on NBC programs such as "Nightly News with Brian Williams," "The Today Show" and MSNBC. Cantore is a member of both the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society. He holds the AMS Television Seal of Approval, an award for weather forecasting excellence in broadcast.

The Press Club luncheon will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. Remarks will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session. The cost of luncheon admission is $18 for National Press Club members, $29 for their guests, and $36 for the general public. Tickets must be purchased at time of reservation.
