Afghanistan, Syria and Mali – each country is experiencing armed conflicts that are causing death, destruction of infrastructure and, in some cases, the flight of refugees into neighboring countries.
Peter Maurer, president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), will give a first-hand update on the humanitarian situation in each of those countries and illustrate some of the key challenges the ICRC faces when responding to acute humanitarian crises amid contemporary armed conflicts.
