SEO Primer : Using the Language of the Reader

Using search data to understand trends and how people search for things shouldn’t be about pandering to what’s popular. It should be about better understanding your audience and connecting with them. This session will show you how to access the free search data that’s available from Google and Bing, as well as how to effectively use that data to engage more deeply with readers, and ensure that your stories are visible when your audience is searching for them.

Join the NPC’s professional development committee for a lively session with Vanessa Fox, who worked at Google and built Webmaster Central, which provides tools, information, and community for site owners about how their sites are performing in Google’s search engine. She also was instrumental in the sitemaps.org alliance of Google, Yahoo!, and Microsoft Live Search, and was deeply involved in the tech industry discussion around the move from print to online, particularly as it related to user documentation, training, and marketing.
