YM Event - Media on Tap

Liz Spayd, the managing editor of the Washington Post and new member of the Press Club, will open up to both journalist and communicator members alike for the newest edition of 'Media on Tap' on Friday March 9, at 7p in the McClendon Room.

The news veteran began her career as a reporter and editor for a Detroit newspaper. She earned a position at the Post shortly before her 30th birthday, and in her subsequent 24-year tenure worked her way up to overseeing their online presence. She was anointed as ME in 2009.

In addition to responding to questions on Friday about newspapers and their future, Spayd will also talk about her own experience transitioning from traditional to new media (and back again), as well as what makes for a good public relations/communications professional from the viewpoint of a news editor.

So come hear the new voice of the Washington Post editorial management, following the paper's recent downsizing announcement and an anticipated appraisal by the unapologetic Vanity Fair.
