Special Event

On June 30, 2011, at 7 pm in the Holeman Lounge, the Young Members committee is showing the film "Scenes from the Suburbs." Acclaimed director Spike Jonze teamed with the wildly-popular indie rock band Arcade Fire to create a 30-minute short film inspired by their critically acclaimed album, the Suburbs, and its themes of war and coming of age in suburbia.

Co-written by Jonze & Arcade Fire’s Win Butler & Will Butler, this companion piece to the album follows the narrator, living in a suburban dystopia, trying to piece together fragmented memories from when he was a teenager, and his experiences with his friends as they grow apart.

This is the first time the movie has been shown to the public outside of film festivals in New York and Los Angeles.

Tickets are free to members and $5 to the general public. Cash bar available.
