Member Categories
The NPC has a variety of membership categories based on your professional status, geographic location and employer. All categories are open to members who live and work anywhere in the United States or the world. Here's a quick overview of our membership categories:
Active Members Generally editorial members of the 'working press,' college-level journalist instructors and published non-fiction authors.
Provisional Members Generally editorial members of the 'working press' who have less than twelve months of experience.
Affiliate Members Generally former Active members who are now retired or professionals who would have qualified for Active membership at some point in their careers, but do not currently qualify. Press aides for foreign or domestic governments and non-editorial members of news organizations also fall into this category of membership.
Associate Members Generally professionals who have regular contact with the 'working press,' authors of books or plays, editors of books or film, poets, television or film script writers and book publishers.
