The issues of immigration and border security have been getting a lot of attention in recent months as the United States considers how to deal with the thousands of unaccompanied children from Central America who have crossed the Mexican border into the U.S. In this edition of Update-1, Broadcast Committee member Sofia Mannos discusses these topics with Michelle Mittelstadt, the director of Communications and Public Affairs at the Migration Policy Institute, an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit think tank that analyzes the movement of people worldwide. They talk about immigration reform, how immigration impacts our daily lives and the responsibilities of the countries of origin.
