CVS Caremark President and CEO to Speak at Luncheon on Sept. 19

CVS Caremark Corp. President and CEO Larry J. Merlo will discuss corporate America’s role in reducing chronic illness and delivering better health outcomes for consumers at a National Press Club luncheon on Friday, Sept. 19.

Earlier this year, CVS announced the chain would stop selling cigarettes and all tobacco products at its more than 7,600 stores nationwide, a move that’s expected to result in a loss of $2 billion a year in sales. The company said the sale of tobacco products is inconsistent with its purpose of helping people on their path to better health.

Merlo, who has more than 30 years of pharmacy healthcare experience, began his career as a pharmacist at People’s Drug, which ultimately became part of CVS/pharmacy. Over the years, he held positions of increasing responsibility including president of CVS/pharmacy.

Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m.

Tickets cost $22 for Press Club members. NPC Members may purchase two tickets at this rate. Non-member tickets cost $36. Click here to purchase tickets. For questions, please email [email protected] or call (202) 662-7501. Tickets must be paid for at the time of purchase.
