Fourth Estate Award winner Marvin Kalb begins "Legends of Broadcast News" series

Former television journalist Marvin Kalb, winner of the Club's prestigious Fourth Estate Award in 2006, will be the first guest at the Broadcast Committee's planned series of dinners featuring legends of broadcast news.

He hosts the Kalb Report, which is co-sponsored by the Club.

At the dinner, Kalb will discuss the current crisis in the Ukraine in the Winners Room of the Fourth Estate Restaurant on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m.

The dinner will occur as Kalb, a former CBS and NBC reporter, completes a book focusing on the importance of history, especially important to understanding the crisis with Ukraine and Russia. Says Kalb: "Truth is, no matter what deals are struck between Obama and Putin, the key will remain what modus vivendi Ukraine can strike with Russia. Without it, no deal involving the West will work. With it, one is possible, when one considers the close, almost intimate, relationship Ukraine and Russia have always had."

The dinner will be limited to 35 people. Tickets are $50 and can be obtained at http://press.org/events/broadcast-legends-marvin-kalb.
