Congressman Fred Upton, a Michigan Republican, and David Gergen, senior political analyst for CNN, were the featured speakers at the 26th annual Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation journalism awards luncheon hosted at the National Press Club on June 3, 2013. Honored at the awards were John Dickerson, chief political correspondent for Slate and political director for CBS News and winner of the 2013 prize for distinguished reporting on the presidency; and Hal Bernton, reporter for the Seattle Times and winner of the 2013 prize for coverage of national defense issues.
