Club to celebrate life of late former president Mike Freedman, Monday

A celebration of the life of former National Press Club President Mike Freedman, who served as 114th president during the first year of the COVID pandemic. will take place on Monday, Jan. 8.

Freedman served as president in 2020. For 28 years, he served as executive producer of The Kalb Report, the Club’s longest running professional affairs program, arranging for it to be broadcast on public television stations and radio nationwide.

He is remembered as a man of unlimited energy, arranging Club events even as he battled pancreatic cancer before his death in September 2023. He was a close adviser and friend to several Club presidents, Board members and staff.

The memorial and reception are open only to NPC members and their guests and begin at 6 p.m. in the Holeman Lounge. Registration is required. Club members must be logged into their online account to register.
