The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) will host a briefing to unveil the AACR Cancer Progress Report 2023 on September 13 from 12-1:30 p.m. at the National Press Club. There will also be a virtual live stream of the event.

Now in its 13th edition, the AACR Cancer Progress Report showcases the progress made against cancer in the past year and underscores the importance of robust, sustained, and predictable funding for the National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute.

This year’s report offers detailed updates and important context regarding the latest research in cancer etiology, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and survivorship. Additionally, the report features a spotlight on cancer immunotherapy and addresses persistent challenges in cancer research, including cancer disparities, slow progress against certain types of cancer, and the physical, psychosocial, and financial hardships faced by cancer patients, survivors, and their caregivers.

Speakers and panelists include:

  • Margaret Foti, PhD, MD (hc), AACR Chief Executive Officer
  • Philip Greenberg, MD, FAACR, AACR President; Professor and Head, Program in Immunology, Clinical Research Division, and The Rona Jaffe Foundation Endowed Chair, Fred Hutch Cancer Center, Seattle, Washington
  • Courtney Addison, mother of a pediatric patient featured in the AACR Cancer Progress Report 2023
