EOPA elected officials who are veterans say IRA investments in clean energy are key to national security and will discuss what the Act can offer veteran owned businesses and Justice40 communities at their DOE summit

Eight Elected Officials to Protect America lawmakers who are veterans will speak on how the Inflation Reduction Act’s nearly $370 billion in clean energy investments will put America on the path to energy independence from fossil fuels. We will also focus on what the IRA can offer veteran owned businesses and Justice40 communities with business owners that help veterans who have utilized IRA funding and/or will apply for funding. The conversation will continue at EOPA ‘s Climate Emergency & Energy Security Summit in the afternoon.

When Putin invaded Ukraine he mostly likely felt secure in his actions knowing that so many European countries were dependent on the fossil fuels Russia exports to them. Sadly, too many countries are dependent on oil barons who dictate fluctuating prices and policy to the world because they own this energy resource. At home gas and heating fuel skyrocketed last year, while oil corporations made a record $200 Billion. That’s why EOPA says it is imperative we work to create a clean energy economy for our national security, and for the future of the world.

The military knows the climate crisis is a threat multiplier, driving instability around the globe, and increasing climate-fueled natural disasters at home.

“A clean energy future is an energy secure future, which will mitigate extreme weather threats. Investing in a clean energy economy with IRA funds is one of the most important things we can do to fight the climate crisis, protect our children’s future and national security,” said  Alex Cornell du Houx, former Maine State Representative, Marine combat veteran, President of EOPA, and Co-Founder.
