Marking the 70th anniversary of the Republic of Korea and United States alliance and the recent State Visit to the United States by South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, the Peaceful Unification Advisory Council (PUAC) and PUAC Washington Chapter host the Korean Peninsula Peaceful Unification Forum 2023. Topics include: "The Turbulent Situation on the Korean Peninsula and ROK-US Security Cooperation" and "ROK-US Cooperation for the Peaceful Unification and Future Direction of the Bilateral Alliance." The event will feature both American and Korean experts on the Korean Peninsula, such as Mr. Seok Dong Hyeon, the PUAC Secretary-General; Mr. Scott Snyder from the Council of Foreign Relations; Prof. Cha Du Hyeogn from the Asan Institue; Prof. Cho Yun Young from Chung-Ang University; Col.(ret.) David Maxwell; Prof. Lee Jung-Hoon from Yonsei University; Prof. Kim Young Jun from Korea National Defense University; Dr. Sue Mi Terry from the Wilson Center; Dr. Patrick Cronin from Hudson Institute; and Mr. Greg Scarlatoiu from the Committee for Human Rights in North Korea.

The Peaceful Unification Advisory Council was established in 1980 in accordance with Article 92 of the Constitution of the Republic of Korea. Having the South Korean president as its chairman, PUAC is a presidential consultative body set up to establish and implement policies on democratic and peaceful unification on a bipartisan and pan-national level. Its goal is to realize sustainable peace on the Korean Peninsula. Currently, there are more than 200 municipal chapters in South Korea and 45 overseas chapters in 131 countries.
