More sessions, instructors added for Journalism Institute writing workshop, Nov. 1

Pro Writing Tips Workshop

What to know how to make an investigative story go viral, what to do when you become part of the story, or how to write for magazines?

Want to learn from the likes of Washington Post national correspondent Wesley LoweryWashington Post Magazine editor Richard Just, and Yvonne Rolzhausen, research director at The Atlantic?

Come to the National Press Club Journalism Institute’s half-day multi-session workshop on Friday, Nov. 1, and choose from among these offerings and many more to create your own four-course program.

The workshop will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and participants will receive free admission to that night's National Press Club Book Fair. Registration for the workshop costs $50 for Club members and $75 for non-members. Register online.

Other sessions include:

· "How to get people to read what you write -- and then do what you want" with former New York Times op-ed editor Trish Hall, author of “Writing to Persuade”;

· "Writing tips you’ll use forever" with Los Angeles Times "Column One" editor and writing coach Steve Padilla;

· "How to publish a best-selling book: Two agents and one author share their tips" with literary agents Gail Ross of the Ross Yoon Agency and Raphael Sagalyn of ICM/Sagalyn, and New York Times best-selling author Lynne Olson.

Following the workshop, participants may attend that evening's 42nd annual Book Fair and Authors Night, a D.C. tradition and fundraiser for the National Press Club Journalism Institute presented in partnership with landmark local bookseller Politics & Prose.
