Party like it’s 1919 on Oct. 23

Party Like It's 1919 at The National press Club

The clarion call of the Jazz Age sounded in 1919 at the Club and across the nation. Prohibition began in Washington, Woman's Suffrage was won, and women - barred from the all-male National Press Club - formed their own Women’s National Press Club. The Club was even graced by royalty in 1919 when Edward, the Prince of Wales, made an appearance.

To commemorate all of these events, the History and Heritage team is joining forces with the Events and Young Members teams to host a party in the Reliable Source on Oct. 23 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Music will be provided by the Jefferson Street Strutters, a Ragtime/Dixieland band, interspersed with brief history tidbits about the Club that year, about Prohibition, and about the invention of classic cocktails.

Reliable Source bartenders are devising a special cocktail for the evening.

No special charge for the evening, but please reserve here so we know how many people are coming. Plan on a fun evening and have dinner at the Reliable Source during the festivities.
