Additional journalist board seat opens for Club elections

An additional journalist seat has opened on the National Press Club Board of Governors and is being added to the list of board and officer positions up for election in December.

The Club’s annual election is slated for Friday, Dec. 4. The nominating process opened on Oct. 21 for Club members who wish to become candidates.

The following Officer positions and Board seats are open:

Officers: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary.

Board of Governors:  Journalist Governor, three-year term; Journalist Governor, three-year term; Journalist Governor, two-year term (newly added); Communicator Governor, three-year term.

voteIf you’d like to become an Officer or Board Member, please email Director of Membership Engagement Laura Coker at [email protected] with the position you’re seeking and a completed copy of the Candidate Agreement Form.

After receiving confirmation, you’ll be sent a personalized petition link. Please direct members who would like to sign to your petition to that link. Twenty-five signatures are required for eligibility as Presidential candidate and 15 signatures for all other Officer and Board candidate positions.

All candidates also will have a physical petition available that can be signed at the Club. Members can sign either the virtual or physical petition -- not both. Signatures on virtual and physical petitions will be added together when determining if a candidate has enough signatures.

Vetting of petitioners will take place after the Oct. 21-Nov. 6 nominating period to ensure they qualify to run for office under the Club's rules.  The campaigning period for all approved candidates begins on Monday, Nov. 9.

Once online voting opens Monday, Nov.  23, members can cast their votes until 4 p.m. ET on Election Day, Dec. 4.
