Annual Holiday Buffet, Jazz Night to combine for special evening at Reliable Source, Dec. 17

The Club’s annual Holiday Buffet dinner on Thursday, Dec. 17, is reason enough to plan spend the evening of Thursday, Dec. 17, at the Reliable Source restaurant. But this year an added attraction – jazz – will make it even more of a not-to-be-missed event.

The combination Holiday Buffet-Jazz Night evening will start at 5:30 p.m. when the flavorful buffet dinner, featuring holiday bash cuisine, becomes available. Then, at 6:30 p.m., the Greater U Street Jazz Collective, which has drawn enthusiastic audiences at previous Reliable Source Jazz Nights, will begin its performance in the Truman Lounge.

The event is open to National Press Club members and their guests. Price is $24 for Club members and $28 for non-members.

Three special drinks, priced at $7 each, will add to the merriment. Take your pick of Washington Apple, Chocolate Martini and Blue Moon.

Soup: Roasted chestnut soup

Salads:
Spinach with sugared cranberries, roast pumpkin, goat cheese and ginger dressing
Green salad with spiced apples, blue cheese, cinnamon pecans and apple cider vinaigrette
Caesar salad with Parmesan croutons; anchovies on the side
Jellied cranberries, oranges and walnuts

Hot Buffet:
Roast goose (carved to order).
Seven fish Christmas Eve stew with fennel, tomatoes and onions
Baked Ham with roasted pineapple and orange ginger glaze
Roasted butternut squash lasagna with cranberries and hazelnuts; topped with Béchamel
Herb bread stuffing with apples and cranberries
Chive mashed potatoes with red wine demi-glace
Green beans almandine with pearl onions

Dessert:
Red velvet cake with Christmas butter icing
Croquembouche (Profiterole Christmas Tree with Grand Marnier pastry cream)
Buche de Noel
