Atlanta Press Club needs help in judging journalism contest

While several National Press Club members have agreed to volunteer their time, the Atlanta Press Club could use some more help in judging its journalism contest.

Volunteers may be asked to judge entries in print, broadcast, photography, commentary and even the the top award -- the Atlanta Press Club Impact Award.

If interested, please contact Atlanta Press Club Assistant Director Courtney Overcash at 404-577-7377 or [email protected] by the close of business today. Judging will take place from Feb. 11 to March 8 and will be handled online.

The Atlanta Press Club, one of the largest and most active press clubs in the country, has revamped its awards program for 2012 and thus cannot confirm how many entries judges will be asked to review. But the club does not expect judging to require much time.

If you respond, please briefly mention your journalism background so you can be matched with the most appropriate category. Thanks to those who have already agreed to volunteer.

Also, please copy Will Lester, chairman of the awards committee at the National Press Club, at [email protected], so he can track those able to help Atlanta as well as compile a list of possible volunteers for other contests the NPC is asked to help judge.
