Atlanta Press Club seeking judges for journalism contest

Want to get more involved in journalism? Here's an opportunity.

The Atlanta Press Club has invited members of the National Press Club to serve as judges for its Awards of Excellence program.

Volunteers may be asked to judge entries in print, broadcast, photography, commentary and even the the top award -- the Atlanta Press Club Impact Award.

If interested, please contact Atlanta Press Club Assistant Director Courtney Overcash at (404)577-7377 or [email protected]. The deadline to volunteer is Friday, Nov. 30. Judging will take place from Feb. 11 to March 8, 2013, and will be accomplished online.

The Atlanta Press Club, one of the largest and most active press clubs in the country, has revamped its awards program for 2012 and thus cannot confirm how many entries judges will be asked to review. But the club does not expect judging to require much time.

If you respond, please mention your journalism background briefly so you can be matched with the most appropriate category.

Also, please copy Will Lester, chairman of the awards committee at the National Press Club, at [email protected] to enable him to track who is able to help the Atlanta Press Club as well as provide possibilities to respond to other requests NPC receives for judges.
