Two celebrated women authors will share the harrowing stories of the challenges endured by “fearless” female war correspondents and their experiences in the field and on the home front during the Vietnam War in a program sponsored by the Club’s History and Heritage team on Oct. 11 at 2 p.m.
Lorissa Rinehart, author of “First to the Front, The Untold Story of Dickey Chapelle, Trailblazing Female War Correspondent,” uncovers the incredible story of Dickey Chappelle, who endured harrowing challenges on and off the fields of war ultimately to became the first female journalist killed in combat.
Elizabeth Becker, award-winning author of “You Don’t Belong Here: How Three Women Rewrote the Story of War,” shines a light on the truth of war through the eyes of three unique women correspondents and their roadblocks in Vietnam.
The event will be moderated by team member Claire Swift, broadcast journalist, Executive Chairman of the American News Women’s Club and associate editor of American Heritage Magazine.
