Surf & Turf

The National Press Club is offering a menu kit for two in the online store, a Surf and Turf dinner.  The Club is hoping to ease the stress of the period between Christmas and the New Year and is offering the kit for pick up or delivery Monday, Dec 28, Tuesday, Dec 29, Wednesday, Dec 30 or Thursday, Dec 31.

Priced at $110, the meal includes two Certified Angus Beef filet mignon wrapped in bacon.  These are marked on the grill and await your re-heating to the temperature of your choosing.  Four jumbo marinated shrimp skewers will likewise be grill-seared, also ready for reheating with lemon butter on the side as a dipping sauce.  Side accompaniments include mushroom risotto with white wine and Asiago cheese, Oven charred asparagus, and the popular Spinach casserole soufflé with ricotta and Parmesan.  As a bonus, a copy of the recipe for the spinach soufflé will be included with each order to allow re-creation whenever you choose.  Dinner rolls, butter and dessert round out the meal.  Members receive a 15% discount.

To instill a festive mood, a bottle of sparkling wine is included, just awaiting your chilling to toast to your good fortune.  Dessert delivers a two-fer: warm apple and cranberry crisp combines a granola and nut crunch and the sweet-tart filling reminiscent of all things winter.  An extra two crisps are included to enjoy the morning after as breakfast to be served with yogurt or cream to harken a splendid new day.

Orders may be placed at any time for pick-up or delivery Dec 28-31.  The kitchen requests you order any day’s pick-up 24 hours in advance but will try to accommodate if 24-hour notice is not possible.  Delivery is available in the DC metro area for a delivery charge.

• Two bacon wrapped Certified Angus Beef filet mignons, seared on the grill, to be reheated to preferred temperature (available without bacon)
• Four jumbo grilled shrimp skewers, chimichurri marinated and grill-seared, lemon butter dipping sauce
• Two roulades of spinach, ricotta and parmesan soufflé
• Oven charred asparagus
• Mushroom risotto, with white wine and additional shaved Asiago cheese
• Four assorted dinner rolls with butter
• Four apple and cranberry fruit crisp with almond granola topping, two for dessert and two for breakfast the next morning with yogurt or cream
• One bottle of sparkling wine
