Award-winning photographer Bowe to discuss new book, Oct. 19

Club member photojournalist Christy Bowe will discuss her new book, "Eyes That Speak," at the National Press Club's Photography Team's meeting at noon Tuesday, Oct. 19, in the Cosgrove Lounge.

The meeting will begin with a self-funded lunch. The discussion will start at about 12:45 p.m. The meeting is open to Club members and guests. Reservations are requested.

Bowe is a long-time Club and Photo Team member, who this month received the 2021 Paris Photo Prize in the State of the World Competition  for her pictures of the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Those three winning photos  are now on display as part of the annual members photo exhibit in the Club's main lobby through the end of September.

In "Eyes That Speak," Bowe tells her  story of a 30-year career in photography, and instances of kindness, compassion, and conflict she experienced. She recounts events that influence her work today, covering Congress and now her fifth U.S. President at the White House.

Bowe shoots for Zuma Press, Getty Images, and is published in leading newspapers, magazines, and text books. Her book offers behind-the-scenes stories about the history she has captured, and the lessons she has learned. Included are some her adventures while photographing high-profile guests at the Club over the years.

"Eyes That Speak" is available beginning October 15, through Bowe's web site  or Amazon.com. The Photo Team expects to have books on hand for purchase at the meeting as well.

Please note that National Press Club requires full vaccination or negative Covid-19 test in the previous 48 hours. Visitors to the Club must wear face masks at all times except during meals.
