Barks publishes book for communications, public affairs pros

National Press Club member and former Club governor Ed Barks has just published his second book, "A+ Strategies for C-Suite Communications: Turning Today's Leaders into Tomorrow's Influencers."

Former White House Press Secretary Mike McCurry, a fellow Club member, said “in this nifty and fabulous volume, Ed Barks gives the corporate communicator tons of good advice on how to get that important ‘seat at the table’ and how to use it when there.”

Club member Betsy Fischer Martin and Anthony Shop, a former member of the Club’s board of governors, also endorsed the book.

The new volume contains the strategies senior communications and government relations pros need when delivering strategic counsel to the C-suite. Targeted toward communications and public affairs experts, it explains how to chart a path toward sustained improvement and toward achieving long-range career, business, and public policy goals.

The chapters delve into such vital issues as media relations, advocacy, reputational risk, and crisis communications. The book features a dual emphasis on a strategic approach to a company’s communications efforts and a commitment to sustained professional development for its leaders.

Barks also published, concurrently, a second edition of his initial work, The Truth About Public Speaking: The Three Keys to Great Presentations.

Published by Ogmios Publishing in print and ebook formats, both books are widely available, including at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and IndieBound.
