Board passes new language on alcohol service policy at bar

National Press Club waiters and bartenders will soon begin asking everyone who is served a drink at the Club for their ID under a resolution approved by the Board of Governors at its November meeting.

Also, persons under age 21 won't be allowed in the Reliable Source bar when it is open unless they are accompanied by a member who is over age 21.

The new policies will be phased in during December and will take effect in January. Members will see signs in the Reliable Source stating the policies.

"These new policies will help ensure that we are taking all necessary steps to follow best practices for protecting our liquor license, as other establishments in Washington must do," National Press Club President Myron Belkind said.

"Members, please have your ID and your membership card with you, and we will be happy to take care of you in the style to which you have become accustomed," Belkind added.
