Books & Brunch to discuss 'The Promise' by Damon Galgut, noon Saturday

Books & Brunch will meet via Zoom at noon on Saturday, April 15, to discuss "The Promise" by Damon Galgut.

The novel, winner of the 2021 Booker Prize, follows three South African siblings over three decades from the 1980s to the present as they are reunited by four funerals. The New York Times described the novel as a "menacing and bleakly funny portrait of the Swart family, descendants of Dutch settlers who are desperately holding onto their farm and status in post-apartheid South Africa."

To RSVP and receive a Zoom link, please email Fay Iudicello at [email protected] by Thursday, April. 13. Those who RSVP should expect to receive the invitation at 9 a.m. on April 15.

Planning ahead? On May 20, the group will discuss Margaret Sullivan's "Newsroom Confidential: Lessons (and Worries) From An Ink-Stained Life."
