For those who wish to get a head start on their reading, the group will read "The Shadow King" by Maaza Mengiste at its Dec. 19 meeting. This novel is set during Mussolini's 1935 invasion of Ethiopia, taking the reader back to the first conflict of WWII. "The Shadow King" is short-listed for the 2020 Booker Prize.
