Milley has spoken out in recent weeks on a variety of issues, including the war in Ukraine, tenuous relations with military counterparts in China, the months-long Republican hold in the Senate on more than 200 general and flag officer nominations and promotions as leverage against new reproductive health policies at the Defense Department, and politicization of the military.

"We in uniform, we are an apolitical, nonpartisan institution," he told CNN. "And we want no part of any of these political issues that are out there."

This in-person event begins with lunch in the Club ballroom at 12 p.m. Remarks begin at 12:30 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 1:30 p.m. National Press Club members may purchase tickets for $25. Non-member tickets cost $45. For all ticketing-related questions, please email [email protected]. Tickets must be paid for at time of purchase.
