Class on Database Use for Investigative Reporting, 9:30 am Oct. 13

Award-winning journalists will demonstrate how to creatively use databases for enterprise reporting at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, in the Bloomberg classroom. There is no admission fee.

Robert Benincasa, NPR's computer-assisted reporting producer, and Chris Adams, an investigative reporter for McClatchy newspapers, will share tricks of the trade in a program designed for students and working professionals alike. Reservations are required for the 90-minute presentation, [email protected].

Benincasa has been with NPR's investigative unit since 2008 and previously served as database and special projects editor for Gannett News Service. Adams was part of a Wall Street Journal team that won the Pulitzer Prize in 2000, and in 2010 he was part of a McClatchy team that was a Pulitzer finalist.

The program is part of a year-long series on “Investigative Reporting in the New Media Environment” sponsored by the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library and the Club’s Professional Development Committee. The series is conducted through a grant from the Ethics and Excellent in Journalism Foundation.
