Club maintains indoor mask policy until Dec. 8

Following is a statement from National Press Club President Lisa N. Matthews on the Club’s indoor mask policy:

“With all the new information related to the Omicron variant of the Coronavirus, the Club has decided to leave its current indoor mask policy in place another week until at least Dec. 8. Until then, we are asking members, staff, and guests to keep masks in place while in the Club (unless actively eating or drinking). We have made this decision out of an abundance of caution and because the Omicron situation is so new and moving so quickly. We should know a lot more in a week. For those who have not been coming downtown, many businesses in the neighborhood of the Press Club are leaving their mask policies and mask signage in place at this time. The Mayor has stressed it is now up to businesses themselves to decide how to best protect their employees and guests and that masks are recommended – although not required. We think waiting an additional week and reassessing is the right policy at this time. Stay tuned.”
