Club Member Connie Lawn updates autobiography

National Press Club member Connie Lawn has revised her autobiography, "You Wake Me Each Morning, 2010 Edition."

Originally published by Harper Collins New Zealand, Lawn is self-publishing periodic updates. Her book launch was held last year at the Club.

Reviewers and reporters who discuss the book, a best seller in New Zealand, can get a free copy by contacting [email protected] or calling 1-800-288-4677.

The Club library also carries a copy. The book can be purchased online, and Lawn recommends buying it through Kindle or other electronic readers, where costs are generally lower.

A reporter for IRN/USA Radio, Lawn started her own news bureau in 1968. She is believed to be the senior member of the White House press corps.

Dubbing herself the "skiing White House reporter," Lawn hopes she can still hit the slopes this year, despite a broken hip.

Among her career highlights, Lawn conducted one of the last interviews with Bobby Kennedy in 1968 and was kidnapped briefly in Lebanon in 1982 -- one of her stops in reporting from around the world. She writes for various blogs and is an advocate for citizen journalism.

Connie can often be found in the Club gym. Or you can reach her at [email protected].
