Club members can buy tickets to March 15 Sunday Reprise of Gridiron Show

For 135 years, a great Washington tradition known as the Gridiron Show has skewered presidents and congressional leaders, political candidates and journalists. The Gridiron Club and Foundation first regales official Washington at a white-tie dinner on a Saturday night with satire and songs. The next day, the club puts on another performance -- known as the Gridiron Sunday Reprise -- for associations, alumni groups, friends and family. National Press Club members are invited to take part in the second-day event on Sunday, March 15.

The Sunday Reprise will be held in the ballroom of the Washington Renaissance Hotel, 999 9th Street NW. Beginning with a reception, which includes beer, wine, soft drinks and munchies, at noon, the reprise starts promptly at 1 p.m. and ends by 3 p.m. Dress is business casual.

Tickets are $70 each. Because the Gridiron Club is a 501c(3) organization, about $56 of each ticket's value is tax-deductible as a charitable contribution. Tickets can be purchased here.

During the show, you are likely to see well-known faces that might include Wolf Blitzer of CNN, Andrea Mitchell of NBC, Judy Woodruff of PBS and Bret Baier of Fox News. Syndicated columnist Mark Shields relays highlights of the speeches that were delivered the night before that typically include remarks by the president -- or another member of the administration -- and representatives of the Republican and Democratic parties. Running the musical performance is the director of the President’s Own, the United States Marine Band, Lt. Col. Jason Fettig, the Gridiron Club's musical director.
