Club members get discount at Investigative Film Festival & Symposium, Sept. 30

"Double Exposure: The Investigative Film Festival" opens Sept. 30 in Washington, and National Press Club members can see the films, meet the filmmakers and attend an array of workshops, all at a discount.

The festival and symposium celebrates the great migration of investigative reporting to film and other forms of visual storytelling and of filmmakers into territory traditionally seen as strictly journalistic. Think of projects like the recent New York Times epic on "The Lawless Seas" and films like "Cartel Land" and "Tales of the Grim Sleeper."

The event, sponsored by 100Reporters, brings together investigative reporters and filmmakers at the Newseum and the Woolly Mammoth Theatre.

A full schedule and registration are available online.

Members of the Club using the code IFF-NPC2015 receive a 15 percent discount on registration fees. And thanks to the generosity of the Reva and David Logan Foundation, we can defray fees for journalists or filmmakers who would otherwise not be able to attend. Contact [email protected] or [email protected] to inquire.

The program is designed to foster networking and collaboration among investigative reporters, filmmakers and other forms of visual storytellers. It provides a forum where they can share best practices and resources and meet with the folks whose means can bring their stories to life: commissioning editors, funders, lawyers, cybersecurity experts and others.

Confirmed speakers include Alex Gibney, fresh off his victory lap at the Emmys for "Going Clear," Matt Heineman (director of "Cartel Land"), David Felix Sutcliffe (director of "(T)error"), investigative reporters Lowell Bergman, James Risen, Betty Medsger, Andrew Feinstein, funders and may more.
