Club members invited to attend panel on cops and cameras during Sunshine Week

National Press Club members are invited to attend a free event on journalism and privacy issues associated with police officer-worn body cameras on Thursday, March 16. It's to be held during Sunshine Week, an effort by journalism, civic and other groups to promote open government.

The Society of Professional Journalists D.C. Pro Chapter and Georgetown Master’s in Journalism Program will host the March 16 event from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Education, at 640 Massachusetts Ave. NW in Washington, D.C.

All Metropolitan Police Department patrol officers in Washington now wear body cameras. The March 16 event will hear from panelists from the D.C. Open Government Coalition, the MPD, the Coalition for Concerned Mothers and the local Public Defender Service. Moderator will be Georgetown Law Journal alumnus and Cleary Gottlieb lawyer Noah Gimbel.

Light food and drinks will be provided. There is no charge to attend. But registration is required here.
