Club Members Offered Discount for Annual SPJ Awards Dinner

National Press Club members and one guest can purchase discounted tickets to the annual Society of Professional Journalists dinner June 11, to be held at the Club.

Tickets are $80, the same price charged members of SPJ's D.C. pro chapter. That's a $30 discount off the $110 non-member price. Contact dinner chair Andy Schotz at [email protected] for questions or to make reservations.

At the dinner, NBC News correspondent Andrea Mitchell, Washington Post sports columnist Thomas Boswell, author and political journalist Haynes Johnson and New York Times/CBS News/PBS correspondent Terence Smith will be inducted into the chapter's hall of fame. Inductees must have worked as journalists in Washington for at least 25 years.

That same evening, NPC member Steve Geimann, a Bloomberg News editor, will receive the chapter's distinguished service award. Geimann is a former SPJ national president. The chapter also will present its annual Dateline Awards for excellence in local journalism.
