Club member's play explores St. Teresa of Avila

The Greenbelt Arts Center and the Seventh Street Playhouse present "Trees," a two-act dramedy, by National Press Club member Anthony E. Gallo and directed by Beatrix Whitehall.

Agnostics, atheists and feminists are very welcome to a play that is mostly about sinners. Teresa has enemies and friends. Some say she has visions. Others say hallucinations. Two lusty friars, a hog farmer, an intrusive royal mistress, a confused novice and some spies present even more surprises. She becomes St. Teresa of Avila. Why do feminist scholars keep writing about her? Why is she such a Spanish icon?
