Club moves to next phase of mask policy on Monday, Dec. 13

The following statement is from National Press Club President Lisa Nicole Matthews on the Club mask policy:

“After a careful review of the news related to the COVID-19 coronavirus omicron variant, we have decided to take the next step and move to the City’s recently announced 'masks recommended but no longer required' policy, effective Monday, Dec. 13. This means you are still expected to come to the Club with a mask, but may remove it when participating in events, at your discretion. While it is safest to wear a mask at all times, we believe it is particularly important to consider masking up when you are in spaces where you might come in close contact with people –– such as restrooms, hallways, and crowded events. Of course, when you are actively eating or drinking you will not wear a mask, as has been the practice for several months.

“Along with this change in masking policy we also want to establish at this time that all who enter the Club –– members, staff and guests –– must be prepared to show proof of vaccination or have submitted documents showing a religious or medical exemption AND a recent negative COVID-19 test from within the last 48 hours. This testing policy is new for those who are unvaccinated and requires a more rigorous series of steps. We know our members and staff will appreciate these changes as we work to continue to keep the Club safe."
