Club seeks funny writing for $750 award

If you have a gift for funny writing, the National Press Club wants to see your work. The Angele Gingras Humor Award is aimed at those with a talent for humorous writing  for newspapers and news websites.
 
The award is named for a longtime Club member who had a talent for humor writing.
 
The award is given for work from 2019. To apply please submit three examples of a humor feature or column that appeared in a general circulation newspaper or online journalism site. The winner will receive $750.
 
 The deadline to submit entries is April 15, and the contest is open to Club members and non-members. Offering entries is free for Club members, and $75 for non-members. The winner will be honored at a banquet at the Club this summer.
 
There are also awards for political writing, writing about foreign policy, breaking news, consumer news, problems facing senior citizens,best news photos, young journalists, best uses of online journalism techniques and issues concerning the welfare of animals.
