Club softball team fall short in media league title game

The National Press Club softball team fell just short of its first-ever Metropolitan Media Softball League title, losing to Comcast Sports Net, 8-3, in the championship game on Saturday, July 13.

It's the second straight league title for Comcast Sports Net. For the Club, it was the end
of the most successful season in more than 20 years of league play.

The day began with the Club losing a one-run game to Comcast to fall into the finals of the loser's bracket. Then the Club rallied for two runs in the bottom of the 7th to pull off a 3-2 win over Albritton(Channels 7 and 8 locally) to advance to the league finals, where a great effort came up just short.

Throughout the season, there were numerous players who stepped up and played key roles in winning efforts. Afterward the team was joined by Club President Angela Greiling Keane
for pizza and beer.
