Club VP Freedman to teach at Pro Tips: Writing Workshop, Nov. 1
Want to learn how to write for an audience of listeners?
Come to Pro Tips: Writing Workshop 2019 on Nov. 1 for practical advice from Michael Freedman, National Press Club vice president and former general manager of the CBS Radio Network, who joins a lineup of notable instructors including fellow club member Wesley Lowery, and staffers and alums from outlets including The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Atlantic.
The half-day multi-session workshop presented by the National Press Club Journalism Institute will allow participants to create their own four-course program, selecting from sessions such as:
- “How to write online” with journalist and Vox.com engagement editor Nisha Chittal;
- "How to make an investigative story go viral" with Washington Post investigative reporter Amy Brittain; and
- "How to get people to read what you write -- and then do what you want" with former New York Times op-ed editor Trish Hall, author of “Writing to Persuade.”

The workshop will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and participants will receive free admission to that night's National Press Club Book Fair. Tickets are $50 for Club members and $75 for non-members. Click here to register.
Following the workshop, participants may attend that evening's 42nd annual Book Fair and Authors Night, a D.C. tradition and fundraiser for the NPC Journalism Institute presented in partnership with landmark local bookseller Politics & Prose.
