Club's 25th Anniversary featured opera singers, departed members
This Week in National Press Club History
March 29, 1933: The National Press Club celebrates its 25th anniversary, with a skit called “Birth of a Nation’s Press Club,” which featured an accurate reproduction of the taproom in the Club’s earliest quarters over an F Street jewelry store. Members of the Club played the parts of departed charter members and its first bartender . Metropolitan Opera singers provided arias.
This Week In National Press Club History is brought to you by the History & Heritage Committee, which preserves and revitalizes the Club’s history through displays, panel discussions, lectures and the oral history project.
