In “This is the Fire,” Lemon, the country’s only Black prime-time news anchor, takes a personal look at racism in the United States. He begins with a letter to a young nephew, where he tells him, “We must resist racism every single day. We must resist it with love.” He follows with reporting and reflections on his slave ancestors, his upbringing in the shadows of segregation, and his adult confrontations with politicians, activists, and scholars. He also takes us to the heart of the 2020 protests in New York City.
Lemon anchors "CNN Tonight with Don Lemon" from the network’s New York bureau on weeknights at 10 p.m. He joined CNN in September 2006 after serving as a co-anchor for the 5 p.m. newscast for NBC5 News in Chicago. Prior to that he was a correspondent for NBC News, and weekend anchor on MSNBC.
