Combine the Book Fair with buffet dinner at the Reliable Source, Nov. 18; menu announced

Here's another reason for attending the National Press Club's 39th annual Book Fair & Authors' Night, Friday, Nov. 18: You can precede it with a sumptious buffet dinner at the Club's Reliable Source bar and grill.

The Reliable Source has announced its menu for the occasion (see below). Cost is $24 for National Press Club members and $28 for nonmembers, plus tax and gratuity.

The buffet will replace the restaurant's usual Friday Taco Night. The tacos will be back Friday, Dec. 2. (The Club will be closed on Friday, Nov. 25, during the extended Thanksgiving holiday period.)

Here's the menu for the Book Fair & Authors Night:

SOUP:
- Beef and barley soup

SALADS:
- Pickles, black eyed peas and green bean salad with radishes
- Yogurt and dill
- Edges of lettuce, bacon, eggs, blue cheese dressing with fried sweet onions
- Spinach, sugar cured cranberries, orange segments, feta and pepper almonds

ENTREES:
- Argentine spiced, grilled flank steak; carved to order
- Chicken fried steak with white gravy
- Sir Winston’s Coca-Cola short ribs
- Non-beef eaters’ butternut squash lasagna with cranberries, hazelnuts and béchamel

SIDES:
- Chive and roasted garlic mashed potatoes
- Rice and quinoa pilaf with pecans and oranges
- Spicy roasted cauliflower with tahini

DESSERT:
- Banana bourbon bread pudding with vanilla or chocolate sauce
- Longhorn cookies
- Carrot cake

DRINKS:
Domestic and mported wines are available to complement your buffet dinner
