Communicators to host healthcare media panel, May 20

During an upcoming online conversation hosted by the National Press Club Communicators Team, a panel of healthcare reporters will describe how their jobs have evolved, especially while facing the challenges of covering a global pandemic.

The “Meet the Healthcare Media” Lunch and Learn session will be held on Zoom on Thursday, May 20, at noon.

Admission is free for Club members. Guests are welcome to attend for a $15 registration fee, which will be used to support the NPC Staff Support Fund to assist Club staff who have been furloughed due to COVID-19. Register online.

Panel participants are Jacqueline Howard, CNN health reporter; Scott Hensley, NPR health and science writer/editor; Tina Reed, Axios healthcare editor; and Ferdous “Danny” Al-Faruque, Medtech Insight senior reporter.

They will discuss how the pressures to do more with less, attacks on the credibility of journalists and distrust of reporters in general have made the job of today’s journalists even more difficult.

Club member Karen Addis, APR, president and CEO of Addis Communications, a strategic communications agency that specializes in health and science, will moderate the panel.

Audience members are encouraged to engage the panelists during the session with questions about their careers and reporting and how professional communicators can assist them.
