Viewers are increasingly turning from their televisions to computer and smartphone screens to watch their favorite shows and movies or short entertainment and informational videos on social media networks. The short videos, which are typically up to one to two minutes in length, are proving to be an effective way for companies and organizations to market their products and services or to advocate for public policy issues.

Communicator Team members Megan Manning, associate director of communications at the Action on Smoking and Health (ASH), and Khalem Charles, manager of brand engagement for the D.C. United professional soccer team, will provide the instruction. They will show how to produce videos using an iPhone that is optimized for social media networks like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and Snapchat.

There also will be a discussion on how to build an engaged audience of followers on social media and what communications professionals should consider for leveraging the platform to achieve their goals and objectives.
